The files contained in the online
system represent a portion of the total records in the Department of
Regulatory and Economic Resources Division of Environmental Management
(RER-DERM). Some older RER-DERM paper records have not yet been converted to
electronic format. If you have questions concerning RER-DERM records or would

Elevation Certificates: Since 1995, Miami-Dade County has been collecting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Elevation Certificates from
home builders and developers, as a requirement of their building permit. Elevation certificates are also required for substantially damaged structures and
electrical/mechanical equipment such as generators. For more information, call the Flood Zone hotline at 305-372-6466, during office hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.).
If your property was built prior to 1995 and you have never substantially improved or experienced substantial damage to the structure, you may have to hire a professional land
surveyor if you need an Elevation Certificate. For a list of licensed surveyors in Miami-Dade County visit the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
(FDACS) website or call the Flood Zone hotline at 305-372-6466, if you encounter difficulties navigating
this website. The documents in
this system are in a number of different file formats, including Portable
Document Format (.PDF), Tagged Image File Format (.TIFF), Microsoft WORD
(.doc), Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets (.XLS) and Email messages (.msg). In order to view these documents, you will need to
have the appropriate programs installed on your computer. Many of the
documents will display with the default viewing programs already on your
computer. As an option, you may want to install one of the free viewer programs that are available online.
Your web browser
program and its individual settings may affect your ability to view the
documents in this system. We
recommend using Google Chrome.
Documents in the online system are
electronic copies of RER-DERM records. The official copies of RER-DERM
electronic records and paper records are maintained at 701 NW 1st Court - 3rd
Floor, Miami, Florida 33136.
